If you are a High School student and would like to volunteer as a coach for one of the Medfield Youth Basketball programs, please use the registration link to submit your application.  Prior experience playing basketball is preferred but not required, however coaches should have a solid understanding of the game and fundamentals.

Coach Expectations

For high school students wishing to  be an MYBA coach it is important to understand the expectations MYBA has for the role of high school coach.

Volunteering to coach is a great way to give back to the community. It requires commitment, patience, and dedication. If you adhere to these ideals, coaching can be a rewarding experience. This is a valuable learning opportunity for you too. MYBA is here to support you! You'll have the support of a parent GM, program grade coordinators, and the MYBA In-Town Coordinator.

Coaches must be comfortable adhering to these expectations and understand them fully.

• You are fully committed to being a coach
• You are committed to being a role model to MYBA participants
• You are committed to attending practices and games and also being on time to these events
• You will have the SportsEngine App on your phone and you are comfortable sending team messages via the app
• You understand you will be working with a parent Team General Manager (GM) who can assist you and provide guidance

Details

• Coaches will receive email communication from MYBA In-town Coordinator, grade coordinators, and the parent GM
• Coaches must acknowledge and respond to these emails as necessary
• Disengaging from your team during practices and games to use your phone is not acceptable
• If you or any of your co-coaches will miss a practice or a game, you must contact your parent GM and grade coordinators to let them know
• Avoid having co-coaches that have the same schedule as you (such as all on the same team) such that you all miss practices and games at the same time
   

Registration

Besides your basic contact information, we ask:

1. What your basketball and/or coaching experience,
2. Tell us a little about yourself and why you would make you a good coach 
3. Who would you like to coach with
4. Acknowledge that you understand the coaching expectations

Anyone that wishes to coach must complete the registration. Please be aware that you will not be able to coach until you complete the registration (blue bar below).
